My favorite continent- Asia! It’s the largest continent measured by both population and landmass. Travel options range wildly from glaciers to deserts to tropical beaches- making it the perfect backpacking destination. It’s also home to some of the most modern cities in the world- Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Bangkok. Due to Asia’s vast and diverse land mass (48 countries and 3 territories) it would take years to explore the continent thoroughly. Backpacking and country hopping is a very appealing form of travel due to its size. My favorite region is Southeast Asia, it’s a great place to start your journey through Asia. From the coastal adventures, to the historical landmarks, to the delicious cuisine there is truly something for everyone.
Best time to visit
Asia is beautiful all year, but the best time to visit changes for each region. The best time to visit each region is largely dependent on the geographical location. The summer months spanning from April to September see the most tourist traffic. The monsoon season hits Southeast Asia between the months of June and July. It can be very gloomy and overcast during these weeks. Although it’s still beautiful, I would recommend avoiding Southeast Asia during the monsoon season. Winter brings a more mild, temperate climate across Asia. Many honeymooners flock to Asia for the winter. If you plan to visit Nepal and trek to base camp you must avoid the grueling winter, and monsoon summer months. Plan your trip to Nepal in early-mid spring, this will be peak hiking weather.
